Start with a battle against the defending champions, Lake Shore Lynx. This game was our opportunity to put ourself on the map. We put up a tough fight during the game, but we took a loss. This game taught us that we need to watch for the run and contain the running backs and the quarter back. It also taught us that we need to work more on our offense overall. Next, we went to Kenosha, WI to play in the 'Taste of GFL' event. First we played the Kenosha Sabers. We lost 21-0. The defense couldn't stop the run and the offense had trouble moving the ball. Second game, even though it was also a loss, was alot closer against a higher caliber team, the Kenosha Cougars. After warming up against the Sabers we went out and improved our defense and offense against the Cougars coming away with a loss of merely one touchdown. Final was 12-8 in favor of the Cougars. Finally we came against our own conference rival the Sturtevant Guardians. With no disrespect intended we won with flying colors 40-0. Our defense stayed relentless by rushing into the backfield to break up the plays as much as possible. The offense ran their way to the endzone, mostly by the quarter back, for a 40-0 victory. Two practices we played the Kenosha Sabers again. This time for a full game and we had some revenge waiting for them. They got into the endzone on their first drive. After a lengthy first drive we answer back. Failed attempt at extra points. A drive or two go by for each team to no avail, and a few key stops by the defense allow us to have the ball near the end of the first half and bring it in for another 6. Yet failed attempt at extra points. By the half the score was 12-6 in favor of us. Second half the Sabers answer back and convert for two. 12-14 in favor of the Sabers. We answer right back with another score but again another failed attempt for extra points. 18-14 is the score in the last couple minutes of the game. Our offense has the ball two more times but end up punting away. The Sabers have the ball for the final drive of the game. Sabers bomb it and the Wide Reciever catches it on a diving attempt allowing the Arsenal defender to spot him down 10 yards short of the end zone. A close, competetive game and we came out on top 18-12.

It has been quite a while since I have been able to post anything about the team and I do appologize. However, it has also been a very stressful month trying to attain the best team possible with players leaving. Good news is, that we should be able to pick up a couple of players to help fill some depth. There is talk that we may possibly move up to the National Conference (NC), but that will not be happening unless our roster numbers can climb in order for us to be competetive in that conference. We are a new team and there is no doubt that alot of struggle to build a new team is ahead. The way we make it through is to keep working hard at practice and keep on recruiting. Let people know that we can always use players. On a seperate note, we had a fantastic practice on Sunday (3/25/12). Almost our entire roster minus one or two showed up and we had alot of hard work put in. It showed our strengths on both sides of the ball as well as our weaknesses which we need and will work on. Keep showing up because the more people there the better we can compete. Don't forget we have practice today at 5:00pm at Gorney Park, as we always do. Stay posted for more updates about the team.

Practice will be outside from now on at Gorney Park off of 7 mile road. There are two large fields, not by the diamonds, and we will be at the back one. Practice will be Sunday 2/26/12 from 3:30 to 5:30. Bring cleats and helmet, if you have one. Click here if you need to find the place. Also don't forget to support the team at the beer bash/charity event this Friday at Cornerstone bar. We need all the help we can get to help not only our football team, but also to help support the charity.

Practice went alot better than week one. We are close to performing to the standard that this league requires, however, the hard work given during practice is what it will take to eventually get there. Defense needs to keep working hard at performing the drills and offense needs to keep pounding away at learning the playbook. Sooner than you think, gentlemen, we will be outside, padding up, and having alot more room to condition and run drills. Keep up the good work.

After only one practice, it seems that the defense, which was highly expected to be our best asset, has taken somewhat of a backseat to the backfield. Since it was only one practice where the coaches/owners could view the players there is no garauntee that the backfield is going to be the "talk of the league" just yet, but we do know that it will be a set of backs that, with the help of our strong offensive line, might be mostly unstoppable. Lets keep in mind, however, that the defense looks very strong with fast corners, big linemen, and hard hitting linebackers and safeties. A new team in the league indeed, but it is, so far, looking like we are going to be a team to watch out for this season.
